Welcome to Help for Progress
Help for Progress is an NGO that acts as an agent of change to support the development of rural communities in Belize. We work for the empowerment of people, for gender equality, and for the elimination of poverty. We carry out our work through training, microcredit services, community development and advocacy.
The organization has been serving the Belizean rural community since 1981 and is a unique organization with clear focus on the rural component of society in Belize. We concentrate most of our efforts in rural Toledo where poverty is most pronounced. As of 2003, we work in the Belize-Guatemala frontier promoting peace and development with equity in the area. This is in concert with a call from both governments to promote confidence building measures in the area.

The organization is governed by a nine member Board of Directors and is registered under the recent NGO Act 26 of 2000 that HfP helped formulate and lobby government for its enactment into law. The core staff comprises six members, however, HfP has a reliable broad network of collaborators and allies, locally and internationally, that contribute to the overall programme areas of the organization.
